My particular issue and how Gateway wants to resolve again....
FIXED BY GATEWAY RETAIL MARCH 07', FAILED AGAIN IN OCTOBER 07' "same hinge"
MX6428 15.4 , left hinge seized and destroyed case and broke free. They fixed it with a little Bitc..ing my "warranty expired just 7 days earlier". My only fault was not noticing the constant poppoing noises
made by the lid over a period of 3 or 4 months. Now 6 months later hinge is again stiffening up and this time breaking away the top where the LCD is attached. They said they will do me a favor and fix for $165. I feel cheated and don't believe the repair is any different from the previous one since they neglected to fix the lid portion adequately. Needless to say this will be the last gateway I purchase, this being my third gateway in 4 years. They have definitely lost me as a loyal customer. I don't like to bash any product or service without reason, I suggest anyone with this particular model from 06'-07'.
Check and listen maybe you can catch it early and maybe they have a better fix now so it won't fail again??

mine broke today too 24 days out of warranty................im on the phone with gate****meoverway........

they said it was customer abuse.... DANM THEM I DID NOT ABUSE THIS LAPTOP EVEN THEY JUST FFFFED me over and wont tell me what it would cst to fix the damng thing

T_T dam that sucks. i find customer service to be a mixed thing, if your lucky you get the good nice kind service reps that will please you or the others that will bitc. and try to fu.. u over =/ cant think of a solution now but il look around.
