I can remove the keyboard from my Gateway NEW95, but using compressed air is not cleaning it as good as I would like. With the keyboard removed, there is a sheet of metal on the back side. Can the plastic face and keys be removed from that sheet of metal and not damage it? I have not tryed as I dont want to damage it, just to clean it.

With a magnifying glass, I can see small piceces of food and hair my daughter got in it under the keys.

I do not have your computer but a normal one can not have the metal plate removed. Now the keys may be another story, I have CAREFULLY removed (and replaced them) on my P78/79. The problem with most solvents that you may try and use is that they leave a residue that will cause issues with the keyboard.

Edit; in a worst case scenario:

Thank you for your quick reply and for the price, I may go ahead and replace it with the 1 you linked to.

It is a shame, as it is probably cheaper to replace than all the products and canned air etc. needed to clean.
