Yea the NV54 looks to only offer the Celeron Dual Core or Intel Pentium Dual Core, with 2 GB of 667 MHz RAM. Paired with Windows Vista those laptops are going to be far from speedy.

The other laptops in the NV series have better hardware that is more than worth the slight increase in cost.

The celeron dual core is good enough for that right now, but even brand new when the laptop is as fast as it will ever be, it will be far from fast. Even though they're only doing simple things, over time the laptop will slow down just like every average user's pc. It will become VERY SLOW in a shorter amount of time than if it had the 4GB of ram and a core2duo or athlon 64x2. As they install things they will add onto startup and include services that will run at all times in the background. Eventually there will be so many things running in the background already that running anything manually will become frustrating and the laptop will feel unusable. I never recommend buying a celeron dual core or even a pentium dual core unless you are on a serious budget and trying to save a lot of money, they are made with cost in mind, not performance. Even still, the NV54 series is very expensive for offering a celeron dual core or pentium dual core, you can find tons of laptops that are at least $100 cheaper with nearly the exact same hardware. If you're trying to save money you are better off buying a different laptop with the same hardware for less money. But I recommend you just spend the extra $50 or so and get them a better platform that will last several years more, and will be able to go a year or two longer without needing maintenance and an overhaul to speed things back up. Obviously they won't know the difference between the processors, but they will be MUCH happier without a celeron dual core or pentium dual core, especially when only paired with 2 gb of ram. The NV series is great, but the celeron and pentium dual core platforms are overpriced when compared to other laptops with the same hardware.
