This is my first time posting so please excuse me if this doesn't belong here. I found a Gateway NV75S02u for around $500. I'm pretty inexperienced with laptops and I saw just a thread on it but is this a pretty good laptop in comparison with the Asus one from best buy? Thanks

I'd like to know more on this model too.
Seems like a good price performance ratio

If you are talking about the Asus K53TA-BBR6 with the A6-3400m and AMD 6650m then no, the Gateway is not a better deal. The Asus is $50 cheaper and comes with a discrete graphics card in addition to the integrated 6520g. The processors are the same. If you want the most bang for your buck then the Asus is the better deal but the Gateway can handle most games just fine and probably runs cooler due to the bigger chassis and lack of discrete graphics.

    but isn't the asus only a 15" ?
the gateway is a 17" - also with dedicated memory of 512.

The Asus has the weaker integrated graphics but it also comes with a dedicated graphics card that is a good bit more powerful than the integrated graphics in the Gateway, which does not have a dedicated graphics card.

Get the gateway on amazon....I physically checked out both the asus & gateway....since amazon is taxfree they cost same.....the winperfindx sores r as follows....gateway: 6.6 5.9 5.9 6.5 5.9 Asus: 6.5 5.9 5.3 6.2 5.8 so as you can see the gateway beats the asus on cpu, grafx & gaming grafx scores. I actually bought the asus at BB 1st & took it home only to be greatly disappointed to learn that you can not disable the integrated A6 (6520) graphics device in this unit & use just the 6650 discrete device like previous generations of laptops. If you do disable the 6520 it automatically disables the 6650 too & throws itself into VGA mode (ugh!!!!)....don't know if this is asus's or amd's fault but I returned mine & bought the gateway. back to the asus, after I explained the situation to the sr bestbuy geek he didn't believe me so he plugged it in & went to the device mgr screen & disabled the 6520 device & it was funny to watch the look of instantaneous horror & shock when the k53 bounced into vga mode. It's as if asus skipped engineering verification test & went into full production (crazy).... when running both the 6500 & 6600 devices marketing twerps will blather about how it gives increased performance....the truth is ur running a 3 legged race with a much slower partner which only slows down the 6650....if u could disable the integrated 6520 & run just the 6650 the grafx scores would be @ 6.7, 6.7 sadly the k53ta stumbles badly in it's implementation. so save yourself the heartbreak & buy the gateway.
