Recently, i purchased the Gateway NV75s02u and have spent a few days with it. I was looking for an affordable & power efficient gaming laptop with a > 15.6" screen, and am quite happy with this model. 17.3" with a 1600x900 resolution.
I'm able to play Oblivion, Fallout 3 at native res, 4xAA/16xAF with 3rd party texture packs on Ultra High settings. FPS can drop to the low 20s in heavily wooded areas outdoors (in Oblivion) but for me it is still playable. Sacred 2 with 2xAA runs smooth as well (but no Elite GFX pack). GTAIV with low-medium settings (and FXAA injector) but i have to turn the resolution down to 720p. Will try STALKER - SoC next.
Temps while gaming.. Peaked at 61C. Not bad. The notebook stays cool and quiet.
Basically this APU is a little ninja when it comes to games. So far, only The Witcher 2 has posed any problem for it. Even on low settings it is still a bit too choppy for my liking, but oh well....![]()
According to APC Powerchute, the system consumes between 7 to 19 Watts idle and peaks about 46-50 Watts while gaming. This is a desktop replacement so i don't care much for battery/mobility. But i did make casual observations and i could surf and do chores for about 3.5 hours.
A few niggles though.. The bezel around the LCD is very scratch prone to fine scratches (oops).. The HDD in my unit is Seagate. And i don't know if Turbo Core is actually working because my WEI score for CPU is 6.1 while others are getting 6.6. Mine is W7HP SP1. The touch pad is really smooth, very nice but the buttons are really bad. Keyboard feels nice to type on.
