I bought a recently used one owner NV79 for relativity for less then what a working functional unit would go for. But the owner did mention to me about the screen once in a while will booting will completely white but if you lower and raise the LCD a couple time the screen returns to normal. And I didn't see it at the time when I bought the unit but later on I did see that effect and did do as he has instructed and the screen came back. More background he did drop the laptop on the corner near the hinge on the right where the screen swivels.

    Here is his quote:
So would that mean I have to replace my LCD cable?

Normally I would agree that it's the cable but I can't see how could one possibly damage a cable of all things when dropping a notebook.
It may not be the cable itself but its connector or socket.

I think you should open it and see if there's any visible damage, possibly start it when dismantled and wiggle the cable a bit to see what happens.

That is going to be my next project dissemble and dust out and re-thermal paste and check the LCD cable and LCD itself. You wouldn't by chance know if there is a site for disassemble of a NV79? or should I use the NV52 disassemble manual for the NV79?

Sorry. I can't see a service manual for NV79 either. on those websites that I usually use for his purpose.
I admit I haven't done extensive googleing though.
