This isn't much of a problem, but it's more of a convenience issue.

Long ago I did a destructive format on my laptop because I assumed that the disc that Gateway supplied me would return me to factory settings since that's what my old eMachine desktop did.

Anyways, ever since I formatted, I installed the driver for the memory card reader but it doesn't do anything. It shows up in my device manager:

But, when I put in a memory stick, nothing shows up under My Computer. I have tried different memory sticks and had the same result. As for SD cards, haven't tested that yet.

Back when my motherboard fried and sent my laptop to Gateway for repairs, I received the fixed laltop and noticed a "Cardreader" folder on my desktop. So the people who fixed my laptop probably fixed my card reader problem as well. However, I tend to format a lot since it's somewhat of a routine.

So, do you guys know anything that I could do? I asked online customer support but they usually don't know what to do.

I might call Gateway support directly and ask them to transfer me to the laptop-repair guys and see what they know.
