    Reliability

I have heard some bad press about new Gateway computers and looking for some feedback of the reliability factor of the their new notebooks. I will be buying a notebook soon and was thinking about another Sony Vaio notebook until I found I could save $500 with a comparable Gateway. I am looking at the higher end machines (3.0 Pentium 4 and 16 or 17 inch display) I have an old Gateway Desktop (200 P Pro) and it still works hard as my file server so I am sold on the reliability of the older systems anyway.

I know people can have bad experiences with even the best of notebooks so I would like to hear from any currant owners.

    Thanks

Gateway's notebook reliability is right at the bottom. I think there is an article on this over in www.pcmag.com website Just do a search over there. I would stick with the Sony, much more reliable machine.

Thanks for your lead bootleg2go. I already did my "net research" and found little about the reliability of the system its self. I'm no expert, but I never have a software problems I need to call tech support for. Most all of the bad reports on Gateway seem aimed at the bad support. I would get a warranty with any system to cover the unexpected hardware failure that happens with any machine.
