A liquid spilled onto the keyboard of my laptop purchased at Best Buy. The Geek Squad was VERY helpful in explaining to me the advantages of mailing the laptop to Gateway's Repair Center in Houston for repairs. However, MAILING a laptop gave me the creeps. But I called the tech dept. had a wait of 43 SECONDS, and was given a repair number and told I would receive a mailer box in the mail. I did, followed the directions (Be SURE TO WRITE THE REPAIR NUMBER ON ALL SIDES OF THE BOX BEFORE MAILING IT BACK), and received EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT SERVICE. I called in a week and gave the tech support person my repair number, he located the laptop, told me the status, gave me a number to pay for "minor repairs" (a replaced keyboard) with my credit card ($167 -- includes postage BOTH WAYS--AND THE BOXES). My laptop was back good as new in TWO WEEKS. Gateway, can you see me standing and applauding the best customer service I've ever had since beginning computing in 1986?

That's fantastic. It's easy for people to post when they're pissed, I'm glad you took the time to relay this experience.

Great positive story for a change!!!

And that price seems really reasonable too. For the cost of parts, shipping, and the labor? Not bad at all.

I had a problem with my Gateway laptop and I had to send it to Tennesse for repairs. I tought I'd have to wait 5-6 weeks since I live in Canada, but after 3 weeks my laptop arrived at my door. The best part of it ; Gateway forgot to charge me for repair costs (my keyboard was broken)!!
From my personal experience, Gateway's customers service is very good and effective!
