I was wondering if the OS disc, is the actual "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit" disc? As in why wouldnt they keep the original disc art on there?

    1) Also I was wondering if I can install different OS, Such as Vista (64 bit) or XP Pro (64 bit)? How much can I really benefit from going to a different OS? As in will my performance go up for programs or gaming?
    2) Can I reinstall my Vista (32bit)?
    3) Should I just save myself some trouble and dual boot the OSs?

Microsoft doesn't sell Gateway the OS on Media. Gateway gets a copy of the install image and creates their own disks, so they can put whatever art they want on the disk.

1)You can install another OS, but you may have to supply your own drivers, install media and product key if it is not a free OS (you will not find both Vista and XP on the included install media).
2)You should be able to reinstall Vista 32 from the included media if that's what was pre-insalled on your system.
3)That is entirely up to you. Why do you need a different OS? Will some of your software run in compatability mode in Vista? If you install XP, is there a reason to also have Vista?

dont go the xp way, the sounds sux.
unless you want to upgrade to 4gb ram no reason to switch to x64 vista.
you can reinstal thats why the supplied the dvd, and you can also use the gateway recovery center to do this without the dvd.

mind you, use the gateway recovery center to make a drivers dvd.

save yourself trouble and keep the x86 vista, dual boot is not hassle free.

I don't know about the 6831, But the Vista install disk that came with the 7811FX allows you to install both x64 and x32 (x86) versions of Vista. And I agree th64bit is the way to go. I haven't had any more problems with Vista 64 that I have with XP on a new system. All the problems I have encountered with Vista, so far, have been solvable.
