I contacted Gateway via their chat regarding my power issue. Of course, since the laptop is a refurb and out of warranty, the tech wouldn't do anything, which I expected; however, he did provide me with information on repairs... which is what I wanted.

He said to me it would cost $199+tax to repair the system. I figured that would be PLUS the cost to replace the mobo (which I suspect is the source of my problem); however, he said it was included the cost of any replacement parts. I thought this was weird, but he was adament that this is the fact.

Does anyone have any experience or insight to this? Is Gateway actually only going to charge my $199 to replace the motherboard (assuming that's what they actually do)??? If so, that's one hell of a deal, considering what purchasing the part individually would cost me.
