Hello, I was considering buy The Gateway over the Clevo because its cheaper by around $500 ($1999 vs $2500) The specs seem almost identical except the cpu being 2.4 3m vs the 2.5 6m, and the 8800 being a gts and not a gtx. Just how much am I loseing with the Gateway in terms of Performance and Build quality? The clevo is sold around many online retailers all seemed to be priced nearly the same.

You'd be paying the extra $500 for better build quality, superior support and an overall lighter notebook that performs better! :) The gateway is the undisputed champion for people with tight budgets, like around $1500. But if you CAN afford the Clevo, then you shouldn't really be asking this question... ;) Also make sure you buy through resellers like XoticPC or PNB to get better rates :D

Its funny, I just found another laptop that I have interest in from the Xoticpc site you refered to me. the ASUS M70SA-C1. Its priced similar to the clevo notebook on the site SAGER NP5793. The asus has an ATI 3650 with 2 500gb drives while the clevo an 8800gtx with an 320gb drive. I am hard pressed with deciding between these too. What do you recommend?

I know for a fact ASUS laptops are very bad for battery life. The Clevo offers the perfect balance. And the 8800M GTX being currently THE MOST powerful mobile GPU, completely smokes the ATI in the ASUS. Besides that, storage should never be a concern. I myself wanted more, but I realized that as time moves on and I use up more and more space off my 320GB, bigger and faster (not to mention possibly cheaper) drives will start appearing in the future, and I can swap them easiliy, when and if needed. It's also very easy to carry those pocket-friendly external drives! :D

Well what are you using this laptop for? As a multimedia machine the M70 makes a better choice due to more storage and probably a cheaper cost over the 5793. The 5793 is undeniably better for gaming however with the 8800gtx option.

the HD3650 has nothing compared to 88000gtx.though i cant back this up with facts nor benchmarks. thing is HD3650 on ati/amd site is categorized in the "mainstream" vid cards, while 8800gtx is...well you know what it is. i say go with clevo!

Not the most reliable of sites to cite.

Note that the 8800M GTX Sli is rated at 12k+. There have been users achieving 12k with a single card.

More importantly, the 8800M GTX scores higher on all benchmarks over the 7950GTX SLI and 7900 GTX SLI but ranks lower. Go figure.

Comparison between 9500M GS and HD3650.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=237020

The HD3650's performance is roughly similar to that of the 9500M GS/ 8600M GT.
