Gateway P series not being refreshed, or salesman just trying to make a sale?

So there it is, I also wanted to see how easy it would be for him to drop the price...lol I didn't even ask he just gave it to me for 1300, pretty cool.

Any way I don't know what to think, it would be strange for them not to update the laptops, but then again they just updated the P series like a few weeks ago right?

This guy could have just been trying to make a sale, but who knows maybe he is sincere.

What do you guys think?

 

Erm, the P173FX XL already uses Penryn processors. Penryn processors = T8XXX and T9XXX models. I would advise waiting, just to see how things turn out.

 

Yeah I meant the 45nm ones on the Montevino platform. Either way he didn't say they were being updated, but I still agree on waiting.

 

Personally it sounds off. If gateway wasn't making money on these ( due to their low cost) they would have never made the 6860.

 

He asked about the X FX, not the X FX XL. Gateway changed the naming of their laptops from the way they did it with the 172 edition. The X FX is now the midrange model (presumably the way it was back with the 171). The P-173X FX uses a t7500 Merom, not a penryn.

lol yes he was, but I was happy he at least gave me the 1300 dollar deal so damn quick. I thought it was going to take more persuading than that....like a cheap hooker, lol.
