Can anyone tell me how to get Windows XPP to install on this particular machine without having to switch the SATA drives into compatibility mode in the BIOS? I have tried several different versions of XPP with SP2 and with various driver packs slipstreamed. I have not been able to load a third party driver during setup either. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you can't figure out how to slipstream the SATA drivers using nLite, then you can either install them using an USB floppy or just change the compatability mode. I don't see why you overlook such a simple solution that takes all of 13 seconds to complete and works perfectly fine.

I used an external floppy drive and it work find. I'm running two (2) HD's as a RAID 0.

I've got all the major drivers for XP installed, such as the Intel Chipset, Intel hard drive controllers, Intel RAID, Intel 4965 Wireless, Silicon Image SATA Controller, Realtek NIC, the 1394 Net Adapter, and the Nvidia Graphics.

I still need the Sound, Touchpad, Modem, and WebCam XP drivers.

This totally works for the sound, very easy, very well done by Bob- IF you made a recovery disk! copy of his post:

All you have to do to get the IDT driver (the one on the gateway recovery disc) to work is:

Add the following 2 lines to the top of 92xxM4-10DM.ini directly under [Models]:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76B0&SUBSYS_107B0692=this
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76B0=this

AND add these 2 lines to sthda.ini under [Models]:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76B0&SUBSYS_107B0692=92xxM4-10DM.ini
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_76B0=92xxM4-10DM.ini

you might also need this, but I think I got mine working without it but I installed it anyway:

    sp32646.exe (36 MB)

This package contains the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio in the listed operating systems.
For more information about this driver, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 888111, "Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver version 1.0a
available for Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and Microsoft Windows 2000.

Also, the modem driver (Agere Systems HDA Modem) is on the recovery disk as well, and you probably can get the touch pad driver at synaptics, haven't come across the webcam yet.

Just install it in compatibility mode and be done with it! There's no noticeable differences anyway, and personally I like to be able to enable the read ahead cache anyway. And you can always add the ACHI drivers later after installation. A better install experience would be to at least use nlite to slipstream SP2 though. like seeing your whole hard drive for example.(SP1=133GB limit)
