    Gateway P-6860 Battlefield 2142 problem

    So I am having trouble with my favorite online FPS: Battlefield 2142 and was wondering if anybody could help me. I put in the dvd the game acts like it is going to start and goes to a black screen then goes back to the desktop with a box that says program has stopped working or something like that. I have drivers 174.69 for my graphics card and have not overclocked anything. This also happened with my previous non-beta drivers so probably is not that. Anybody having similar problems with their 6860? Maybe it is just the 64-bit vista incompatibility.

    try installing/updating punkbuster.punkbuster so sucks so much gives you bout any problems with bf2 that you can think of.

    Yeah but which type of punkbuster? I tried updating through manual pbupdate software but still same problem. Is there another way to update punkbuster? BF2 works fine which is the funny thing but 2142 won't even load.

    If you do a search for BF2142 problems on google, you get allot of pages. Vista compatability is apparently not too good. Also having 4 gig of ram is also not good ,believe it or not and unfortunately our P6860 fx have four gig of ram. In this link

    They discuss the problem, but I saw no cure-all solution and it's not just with Vista 64 but also Vista 32. Good luck on this one, you may have to do allot of research.
