I just bought a Gateway P-6860FX laptop. When I reformatted it, everything works, but the sound won't. I can go into the restore drivers section and it fixes it, but every time I restart or turn on the laptop I have to do it again. Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The driver I have for it is SigmaTel Audio Driver v6.10.5580.0-T&T-SR 32/64-bit

Sorry, Im new. I have the Vista home premium. The laptop has a reformat built in and when it is loading all the drivers, I noticed it said audio driver may have difficulty starting, but the words disappeared before I could read it all. I guess I could try posting in the other section.

    Hi Michael,

Try to uninstall your current driver and install this one. It's the older version of SigmaTel driver. Sometimes new ones are not always better.
