    Hello everyone, I recently purchased this laptop and I was wondering if there was a simple way to remove items from the Windows Welcome Center when I first start the computer. I remember there being four items that came with the computer and it seems I successfully got rid of one of the four items and three are left as you will see in the screen I will post. I just have OCD issues I assume and I like things to look a certain way and dislike having these items as part of the Welcome Center.

    Hopefully the attachment loads up nicely but if you can not there is a horizontal rule type of line on the welcome center and underneath it it says:

    2. Software included with your Gateway PC(3)
    Ebay , NetZero Internet Access, and Save up to 40% on Nortan products.

    Just wanted to give a quick thank you, it worked like a charm and it was very simple and easy.

    Wait a second. If i see that correctly in that screenshot you posted, that says you have a 8800M GTX? I thought the 6860 came with a 8800M GTS. Is there even a difference between the two?

    That's well spotted! Maybe he did the GTX work-around for the latest driver installation?

    Yeah its the 8800GTS. Mine registers as an 8800GTX on everything i have as well...I guess i should go in and edit the registry back to say 8800GTS but its never been that big of a deal to me.

    The only problem with the GTX work around is the fact that GPUZ actually registers is as a 8800GTX so that skews my readings a bit.

    *Between that and the fact that i have a WEI of 6.3 could sell it as a custom for a ton more than i paid for it to some unsuspecting git :p

    *Just kidding by the way

    My Welcome Center reads "8800GTS".

    @KGann
    Did you use the GTX work around or did you use Johnksss' method and edit the INF file to have the correct value?

    I just used the work around on driver 175.63 and everything i have registers my card as a GTX (and boy how i wish it were true)

    I used the GTX workaround.

    EDIT: Can somebody link me Johnksss's post where he explains what to edit so it will read it as a GTS again?

    I dunno, I just used the 177.41 drivers from Laptopvideo2go.com. Replaced the .inf, used the "have disc" method, and it worked...

    Its about the 4th post down. basically there was a screw up between a "," and a "-" and that was making the file not work.

    I've been able to make it work both ways not...but after i noticed that it said 8800GTX on everything i kept the gtx work around...it makes me feel special to have the GTX card even if it isnt true :)
