Hello all. I recently reformatted my P-6860FX. I installed all the drivers and everything in device manager checks out. The only thing now is that everytime I close or open the laptop, it makes the sound like it's found new hardware. Is there a way I can fix this? It's not really a problem, cause everything works, it's just a bit of an annoyance.

mine does this too, it's either a mouse or other usb device you have plugged into it or you have it set to sleep when you close the lid and it's shutting off your wireless card.

The screen is disconnecting and reconnecting... not in a bad way though.

When the lid is shut, the screen disconnects as a device, and when the lid is opened the screen reconnects.

I don't have any USB devices plugged in, and I tried changing the power options for when I close the lid, yet it still makes the sound.

when you close the lid, it disconnects the screen as a device, no matter what your power options are for "choose what closing the lid does". not sure who wouldnt want to conserve screen brightness lifespan and power when the screen is obviously not going to be used. if it bothers you that much, your only option is to make it so vista does not make any sound when ANY devices connect or disconnect.

you do that by going to control panel > hardware and sounds > change system sounds > turn off "device connect" and "device disconnect"

Ahh, ok, is there an option to fix that? I shouldn't even really bother with it, since I'm selling the laptop, but that sound is annoying, lol.
