Recently, the Gateway P-7803H-CA was released and I always wanted to get a Gateway P-7805u, but the only way I could get it was through refurbished from TD.ca, which my parents would not agree to since it was refurbished.
Now the Gateway P-7803H with the following specs:
    -Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0GHz,
    -17" WXGA+,
    -4GB DDR3,
    -500GB SATA,
    -NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS 1GB
There is also a bundle offering which includes the D-Link DIR-655, Xtreme N Gigabit Router for free.
The total cost of this bundle is $1249 before taxes.
Is this a good bundle and is it worth the price? I was thinking of making a rig and waiting for Arrandale, but it would be a bit neverending if I kept thinking about getting the "newer, better, latest" technology. Would this laptop be a decent buy for the next 3 years or more? Im currently a Grade 12 highschool student and will be going to university next year so I was wondering if this would work well for that university time period also.

    Thanks, GoldenDrago.

to last three years expect an eventual CPU upgrade. Also a probable 2nd drive too. In 3 years the GPU will seem outdated as well. If just for college, internet and general office type use you will be fine......

The laptop will last until they finally make most of the programs useful for the quad cores. When that will be I dont think anyone knows really. Even when that happens the dual core software will be around for a while. I love my 7805 I spent 950.00$ on it and have done about 900.00$ in upgrades. Well worth it.

    P-7805u = $1,089.99
    DIR-655 = $94.95 - 3-5%(bing cash back) = $90.00
    Total = $1179.99

You could get those two by them selves cheaper. Thats before taxes.

P-7803H Does have a larger HD but lower processor. HDs are really cheap now adays.

I guess I could just make a rig for now instead like I planned to before, but its still tempting to buy the laptop.
Its so difficult to decide whether its worth the wait for Arrandale and whether its pricing will be similar to what we have now with gateway. Also I can't order online and this is from a shop near me called Canada Computers.
Thanks for all your replies though! Does anyone think gateway will make a laptop later on with a arrandale CPU etc?
