I have a Gateway P-7805U and I noticed that it has a empty Half Mini PCI-E slot. I was wondering if i can put a SSD card in there and boot an OS like Windows XP off of it. I was looking at this SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609413
Thanks

likewise, i was thinking of using a full size mini PCI-E SSD and getting a half size wifi. I just want to know if you can boot from it.
And when i meant full size i meant 50mm length cards -

I honestly have no idea if it would work, my only concern with this even if it works is that it will not really be any faster than a traditional hdd. I know most ssd are much faster than regular hdd but when they started putting these things in some of the original netbooks they weren't used for speed but for the small size and low power requirements. -

The PCI SSD's suck, they are all at this point jmcron controllers and are generally crap (except if you just want more storage) I use one to hold documents because you can almost infinitely read from one even though they have limited write cycles.
But they are slow compared to a SATA SSD, and we dont have the option to boot from them. -
I already filled the other hard drive port and wanted another bookable storage device internal.

Speed wise the runcore drives are best. As stated though I do not think we have boot capability through them.
