    Hello.

I own a Gateway P-7805u and I've been having some horrible FPS ever since updating to Windows Ultimate 64-bit. Here are a few details:
    - When updating, I did it stupidly. Instead of backing up current drivers, I just stuck the CD in and erased current partition.
    - I went to the Gateway website and selected my laptop, and got all the original drivers. I installed them, and also updated the nvidia graphics card drivers [i'd have to double check, but it was the newest based on google searching + a few threads I read in this forum section].
    - The FPS/lag issues are not only in-game [World of Warcraft + CoD4] but also in certain things such as watching movies. I notice a lot of screen tearing, or the movie will lag behind what is suppose to be showing.
    - I've checked task manager and no other background processes taking up processing load. I seem to get large processing spikes when running task that I had no issues with before [read above mentioned points].

I had none of these issues before Windows Ultimate 64-bit [I upgraded from Windows Home 64-bit, the default OS for the laptop when I purchased it] so I'm assuming it's some sort of driver issue. I'm in the process of reading http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=265740 [Definitive nVidia Driver Upgrade Guide] but I'm on slow internet, and I don't want to potentially ruin anything on the laptop.

I have a decent amount of iT knowledge, but it's limited in mainly networking, web coding, and a few other areas. My hardware knowledge is a bit soft.

    Thanks,

Maverick: I'm not using battery power, and I downloaded it anyways. It said I didn't have any any Powermizer settings to begin with.

mew: i downloaded it, going to see if that fixes it.

Press Windows key + X and ensure that you're using the "High Performance" above Battery Status, as xxErik suggested.

I completely forgot about the advanced options under battery. I was set to power saver, but I turned up everything when I was on battery [the monitor, etc] so completely forgot about the other options.

Thanks A LOT for the help! Awesome shortcut too.

You should set powermizer on A/C to off with powermizer switch. The reason you had no original settings is they were not in the registry. Be sure to run it with admin privelages. Default without the registry settings is powermizer on both on battery and A/C.
