Hey, there are many here who play games on their 7805u FX rigs for hours at a time with no issues whatsoever. I don't play games at all so I can't speak personally, but there's no reason why you can't play those types of games for the time period you want on the 7805u FX.

Go get one! I bought mine because it's the best bang for the buck rig I could find.

Most of the the unlucky people come here with problems, you see more problems then there actually are, majority of people with these laptops wont ever have these problems.

You could play until your body wont let you probably, the cooling system is good, and if it is raised then there will be no problems.

    Right.

With any product/forum - you're going to see complaints > non-complaints. This "illusion" (in most cases) may lead you to believe that the product is defective; however this isn't always true.

Imagine if everyone who had a perfectly good 7805 opened a new thread stating that their machine works flawlessly. Yeah, you'll get a few who will create a "feel good" thread, but for the most part they serve little purpose. That's why you see those with the complaints more because they have problems they hope can be fixed or are just venting due to frustration.

That being said - my 7805 is great and I game for hours without issue.

I don't have any problems with mine. I'm using XP for all my games and Windows 7 for all my media and crap. This laptop works great and I am very happy with it.

I'm using mine everyday of the week.
I'm not a crysis fan so I haven't tried playing it for 6hours, but I played it for 3hours without a problem.
I play GTAIV, CoD4, Assassins Creed, alot sometimes 5-6hour sessions without problems.
I'm running it with the Vista it came with.

Also like someone else posted, mostly ALL your gonna see on forums is complaints.
How stupid would it be if all te people with the good system made new threads saying "WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NO PROBLEMS!"?
There would be atleast 50new threads a day. Lol.
Imagine how insane the mods would go!

I just played Mass Effect the other night for about 8 hours - no problems :)

I do mostly dev stuff on mine using Unreal Engine 3. For anyone who has used it, it pegs your CPU/GPU at 100% almost constantly. I do this every day for hours at a time and have never had problems.

CPU never goes above 40 degrees and GPU never goes above 72 or so. I don't have a cooling pad either. I just prop up the back of it with a thin book or something to create a little space for the fans to get better intake.

    *EDIT*
The only time my laptop has crashed is when it is plugged up to my Samsung 56" DLP via HDMI. It crashes about 15 min into a show almost every time.

The 7805 is a great system, don't be distraught. Like the others have said, people are much more likely to post about their laptop if they have problems vs if they don't.

I have had no problems with 5 FX's now, most of the problems on this thread seem to be user error, we just can't leave well enough alone :)

    Other two issues;
1.) expecting bright crisp graphics running at non-native resolutions.
2.) running at too high a resolutionand or quality than the system can deliver at playable frame rates. Especially for what the system is.............

See all these good posts already?
Now imagine if everyone made our own threads sayingg "Mine runs fine"
    The threads would be pointless.
So the people with complaints have a reason to post a thread, simply asking how to fix their rare problem :)

Has anyone run into problems with compatibility issues with games and Vista 64bit?

I just purchased the 7805 and am looking at getting some sports games. When I look at Windows compatibility website, all games are shown as compatibility unknown.

I bought 2 desktops this year, one with Vista 32 and one with Vista 64 (fearing hardware/software issues on both Vista and the 64 bit OS). After having no problems running 64 bit Vista for almost a year now (and loving the advantages, e.g. more addressable RAM), I now run only Vista 64 on both of my main desktops (still running XP SP3 on my older laptop and desktop, which struggle to run Vista, but they're several years old).

I have had very few problems with the 64 bit OS, the biggest one was probably having to upgrade the firmware on my MP3 player on an XP 32 bit computer before I could use it with my Vista machine, and no drivers available for a very old printer that I use as a backup.

64 bit is the OS of the future, and there's very few problems you'll have running software or driving hardware. The only exception I can think of is if you use uncommon, industry-specific software (I've heard some older CAD programs, for example).

For any serious gaming, the 64 bit OS is actually preferable and highly recommended, as it frees up some RAM that you can't address on a 32 bit system, in most cases (i.e. any time you have more than 3gig installed). 32 bit OS will only let you "use" about 3-3.5 gig of RAM, no matter how much you have installed. 64 bit OS will let you use as much as your motherboard will hold. Why is complicated, but a google search for "32 bit 4 Gig maximum" or similar will explain why.

I've actually had several defective units in a row. The way I see it, If i'm getting them that means everyone else isn't. As long as I eventually get a good one than I'll be happy.
