My GPU runs around 115F on idle too. My cpu is running way hotter than yours...around 95F avg. on idle and I undervolted it.

real mature...>.> what are you 16?

some of us ( like myself) actually are a little concerned considering for example when i got my laptop it ran 32 C at idle and now a few months down the road 45-47C is my new idle. I even clean my every weekend and keep it in great condition.

idiotic statements such as the one you made are not needed here. All you proved is that you have an over-inflated sense of self-worth compounded with a low level of intelligence. If you have the brain capacity to do so,try posting something constructive you child.

Show me a 9800gts at 32 deg and I'll talk to you.

If i had some screen captures of my computer i would post them.

BTW: If you wish to turn this into some kind of petty contest; I’ll take your community college level education and raise you a TS (level 3) clearance, CCNA cert., a degree in NS & CSI and 4 years employment at the NSA. Care to continue child?

PS: Just because you’re in college does mean you’re more intelligent. I've seen colleges take just about anyone these days due to the economy.

It just needs the right conditions to get to that temperature.

I laughed at your original post, a 9800M GTS at 115°F at idle is nothing to worry about. The majority of them run at that temperature, I wonder how many threads I've seen posted about a fan spinning up.. which occurs when the GPU reaches ~50°C (122°F)... Most high end GPUs idle around there, maybe slightly lower, but keep in mind we are talking about a laptop which has this high end GPU crammed into a tiny (compared to desktop :p ) case with a very small fan used for cooling.

Idling at that temperature is far below the threshold for overheating when under load, unless you have some abnormal jump in temp when under load that doubles the temperature.

What I posted in bold is what I assume you meant. Cleaning the fans and heatsinks every weekend isn't necessary, once a month or once every couple weeks at the earliest. I'm assuming NOTHING has changed since your increase in temperatures, including ambient temp, drivers, use patterns/stressing, etc. If cleaning your fans and heatsinks hasn't changed the increase in temps and you have in fact CONFIRMED that the heatsinks are clean and the fans are spinning freely without any problems then perhaps the thermal paste is no longer applied correctly and/or working as well as it was before.
