Gateway P-7811 FX at bestbuy [CANADA] soon!

Following some logic I deduct that the Gateway P-7811 FX will be comming to Canada soon. 2 weeks ago there were no Toshiba Qosmios at Bestbuy.ca now in this weeks ad and website there is the qosmio. Bestbuy.com runs a lot of higher end gaming products like the Gateway P-7811 FX. Probably with the holiday season coming Gateway will start selling them at Bestbuy Canada.

 

The 7811 has been discontinued I seriously doubt you will see it in Best Buy Canada.

 

WHAT!!! how is it discontinued!!! is it in the discontinued in US or Canada? Any good laptop coming 2 canada?

 

You should look for the Gateway P-7801u, essentially the 7811's replacement. However, I'm not sure if it's sold anywhere other than on newegg right now. It's pretty much just the 7811 with an upgraded hard drive and twice the GPU memory (which arguably isn't going to be used ever), for about $400 more than the 7811.

 

sorry the Gateway P-7801u is too expensive for me and it's USA only too... need a laptop for canada. I've seen the gateway fx desktops at COSTCO but not the FX laptops... so is this right? the Gateway P-7811 FX is discontinued ? (((

Get the x300 instead for the next 14 days.

 

or drive to the u.s. get the 7811 and pop back up to Canada. thank you drive through.
there was discussion here on how to do that and to avoid custom duties if they check at the border. ditching the packing etc. search around.

 

They ding you 5% big deal. Pay tax to feed the starving people in Ontario.

more like 13% actually...its full provincial and federal tax when bringing things over

 

An item set for discountinuation of stock. Not only are there individual BB stores but there are also BB distribution warehouses that stock the items that are ordered by the individual stores to replace those we walk in and buy. The warehouses also serve the internet sales that are not set to pick up at a local store.

When an item goes OUTLET, it no longer is set to be avaliable to restock the individual stores. Those stores sell there on hand stock at CLEARANCE and once they are gone that store no longer has the ability to sell them (as they can't restock the item). Also an OUTLET item is not going to be restocked in the warehouse by the manufacturer in this case Gateway. Once all the individual BB stores have moved thier FX models marked at Clearance and the BB warehouse is out of FXs marked as OUTLET, they are gone from BB history.

P.S. To avoid taxes etc. couldn't you just pop down to the states, buy one, open it up, mail the contents and/or box back to yourself in Canada and drive up with the lappy.

 

What happens if something happens to my P-7811? I'm still covered by the warranty until 2011 and they have no choice but to replace my laptop...but how can they do this if it is out of stock?

 

comparable technology.... you didn't honestly think the 7811 would be around until 2011, did you?

 

So, what at best buy is comperable to the 7811 right now?

 

the asus G71V-X2 and the toshiba X305-Q705,
both hosts 9700m (gs,gts) gpus. or the 15.6 asus G50Vt-X1 with the 9800gs.

i wouldn't be happy if forced to accept any of these as a 7811 alternative.
though the G50Vt-X1 is kinda nice.
