Here: Gateway P-7811 FX Bluetooth Question

You could also consider the Intel and Anthros 2 wire combo units, cheap like $18. My Intel 6230n combo is very convienent but half the download speeds as the non combos if that is a huge deal. Killer has faster units but not sure of the drivers.

As Tanware mentioned it is a relatively easy install. I remember when I did mine, I did remove the top cover though because I wanted to permanently mount the module. What I mean by this, is the module came with double sided sticky tape attached to one side which you could use to just stick it in place, but there are actually 2 mounting posts/standoffs built into the chassis that would normally have some of those brass threaded inserts in them for screws, but they don't. I think the posts are leftover from the 68 series chassis days. If I remember correctly a number of those actually came with BT as a factory option. What I did was fill the 2 holes in the 2 posts with some epoxy, waited for it to dry then used what is called a pin drill (a device about the size of a pencil that holds extremely small drill bits) and drilled a hole in the epoxy, and proceeded to thread the 2 provided screws. Once I had threads cut I mounted the module with the 2 provided screws. I use mine mainly for a bluetooth mouse, it is to bad there are not hardly any fullsize 5 button bluetooth mice on the market today. I still use an old Logitech MX 900. Wanting to try something different I picked up a Gigabyte M7700B here the other day GIGABYTE - PC Peripherals - Mouse - Wireless - M7700B nice mouse but somewhat small.
Picture of where bluetooth module sits and connects taken from azrickster's teardown guide. Front lower right side right next to the wifi switch.

I did locate a internal bluetooth bought it and will see about getting it inside the laptop. I am not a big fan of dongle devices unless I have no choice. So I will get the internal bluetooth and which will require dissemble to get the blue tooth plugged inside the laptop.

Forgot to ask when you did order the bluetooth and installed the device did you have to flash the BIOS or do anything else? Did you just plug in and reassembled the laptop and powered up and it recognized the Bluetooth device? You didn't have to do a FN+F6 key to turn on the Bluetooth? So that long cable length didn't affect the installation did it? And was the connector was the correct connections?

yes cable connections were correct. Once booted you MAY have to FN+F12 (F6 is the mute). Over all once in it is a nice elegant connection and best yet no dongle.

Man oh well I have the send the current on back and I order the one you listed and then try the FN+F6 key... I didn't think one should've have to turn on the Bluetooth but I go with the second seller since they have more in stock in-case the one I buy doesn't work. So by default unless I re-flash the bios and turn on the Bluetooth it will not see or detect the device?

no need to flash the bios, and again F6 is mute not turn on the wifi or BT. You need to FN+F12...............

Ok I got the part but the connector at the board side isn't the same? Are you sure about the part itself? I still have another part that I ordered a p6030fx bluetooth and it board connector is larger then the latest one you mentioned that you ordered for? The latest one is way to small to fit properly into the connector board side?

I used and seen that picture as well but the actual part I got and the board side connector is totally different from what my p68 Bluetooth connector is??? I think that number might have change since??? Have you check the ebay link to be sure it was the same item?

Do you have or can you provide a picture of your connector on the motherboard? If I remember correctly they are usually 8 pin, 4 pin or proprietary. Maybe we can help you find the correct cable with a pic.

No it's a P-7811FX as stated in my question. The device that you mentioned and I ordered has a smaller connector then the bluetooth device for the P-68 laptop. I have to take apart my P-6860FX and check but I can tell from the looks of it the P-68 bluetooth I ordered first that didn't work was larger connector then the one you had mentioned that I ordered.

Ok, I took apart my P-6860FX and swapped the Bluetooth and it did work so I used that spec and found one on eBay and will order it and see if it will work.

    Update:

Ok I ordered a bluetooth for a P-68 bluetooth and installed and loaded drivers and it found it and now I have bluetooth. So I guess a bluetooth for p-68 is a match for the p-78.
