I've been getting very antsy (like I know alot of you have) waiting for information about what I hope is the P-79 FX series of laptops that are coming to the U.S. When I was doing some digging around on Gateway's U.S. website earlier, I noticed on the support side, they actually have a section for the P-79 series now.

The main link for that is here: http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/p/p79/p79nv.shtml

I thought one of the submenus was somewhat interesting: http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/p/p79/P79sp3.shtml

This one show possible configurations, specifically, what CPU's they support, and Windows 7 as a option. If anything, this may show that there is a P-79 series laptop coming to the states, it's just a matter of when?

None of this stuff is earth-shattering or groundbreaking, but I thought it may be an interesting look for those of you who may be interested. ;)

Intresting that they say they support the QX9300 (even though they typo'ed that part)

Wonder if they will support OC on this model... even 2.76gHz would rock, but 3.0gHz again would be astounding

Yeah i think gateway has just decided thats the only 17in screen they are going to use.

Which is fine i suppose i prefer them for laptop gaming, though i still prefer 1920x1200 for everything else.

Though i cant wait for the first less than 30in 2560x1600 screens :D :D :D

Yeah, 1920x1200 is a little much for the 7811 to handle with most modern games. But hell, OCed I still can average around 40 fps on Far Cry 2 at medium high settings at that resolution. I think that for laptops like these, you should have at least 1680x1050. And I can't wait until screen resolution becomes a non issue. How many years will that be?

1680x1050 would be a nice happy medium that would generally make everyone happy.

Yeah a day where screen res no longer matters would rock... not sure how we're going to get here but i would love to see it. Unfortunatly i think it will come with the 1920x1080 screens and that makes me sad

I find the BluRay drive listing to be interesting. That'll keep me from upgrading with this when I get it if the model I want comes with it. [IMG]

Screen res probably will become a non issue in about 4-5 years when 1080p is standard on 15 inch displays. And then top of the line 14-15 in. displays have 2560 by 1600 res.

Anyways they better have a 1920 by 1200 option to take full advantage of the GTX 260m even though it wont be able to play most games on high. I'd rather have medium detail and 1920 by 1200 than high detail and 1440 by 900.
