I might order a T9900 from HP. I already bought some Artic Silver to compliment it. Hmm

I currently have the old 6831 released a long time ago, This new one seems really nice but I cant help but feel that Dx11 cards might be around the corner. Also I'm dissapointed the resolution is not higher... I have seen the ebay ones but I'm not a very good handyman :(

Man, about those fan cycles, I just can't understand it. Could I get some videos of it? Because I really want a FX laptop, but if it is really annoying, well, I'm definitely not getting it.

Hi, I know this laptop is upgradable to 8gb ddr 3 ram. However, I am wondering how many slots it has. Can you just add another 2X2gb ddr3 sticks (cheap only 100$) or do you need to replace it with 2x4gb ddr3

If you goto the newegg page, the most recent review on 12/26 the guy said he bought a quad core and upgraded to 8gb ram. Im not sure if that means he upgraded to a quad core, or got one (you said some of them randomly came with a quad core or something??)

    I bought this laptop ( Gateway P-7908u FX) today and I want to replace the 1440x900WXGA 17"screen with a 1920x1200WUXGA 17"screen.

I spend all day looking for an exact match without any luck... but I did find a screen that is for the ( Gateway P-7805u FX). Will it fit and work flawlessly with the ( Gateway P-7908u FX) ?

Guys, just got a new 7908u and I'm very happy with it.

But one thing I wanted to be sure: when the cooler starts to pulse, it does a strange noise (but not high, it's not very easy to notice if not in completely silence) like a "piiiiiiiiii"?

Please could you somebody of the gateway p-79xx owner's dump your bios for me? You can do it with phoenix winflash. I flashed accidentally a p-78xx bios to my laptop and of course it don't work because p78 has 9800gts and p79 has gtx260m so the video bios differs...

Hello everyone: I am thinking on updating the CPU, but I have no idea the CPU does Gateway P-7908u FX supports.

Your best bets are P9700, t9600, t9800, t9900, x9100. Those are the top end CPUs for the generation you have

IMO, P9500 wouldn't be worth the upgrade. Consider a P8800 instead. It would be cheaper do to a lower cache, which wouldn't matter much for a processor with that clock speed.

I see, but that sounds more like a couple decimal of GHZ.

the only reason why i want to ditch my current 7805u for the 7908u is for the newly designed graphics on the lid and palmrest. ya'all think thats worth it? lol. prob not. but maybe for the 260M

Haha I don't think its worth it for the new design on the 7908u and the 260m isn't a huge upgrade from your 9800m GTS. If you could sell your 7805u for a good price and get a good deal on a 7908u then it might be worth it.

You want to get a newer model of a $900-$1200 laptop because you want to the updated decals that cost about $5 to make and an updated graphics card that is marginally better than the 9800m GTS 1GB card?

Sometimes, when I browse this sub forum, I am astounded by the lack of logic and common sense some of the members have.

I own a 7801u that was released around a year and a quarter ago and I still manage to play all the latest games at 1920x1200.
