I was checking the stats on my gateway lcd screen w/Everest and apparently it only supports 262k colors. I checked the company that makes them and it also says that. http://auo.com/auoDEV/?ls=en that's the website in case you guys wanna check. I'm so effin confused. But I cant notice a difference.

I have the LG screen, but it uses the generic LCD monitor drivers.

Maybe Everest is reading the generic information?

If there are drivers specifically for your AO screen (or my LG), installing them might correct this reporting problem.

Try "System Info", "Display", and see what is being reported there.

I thought this was pretty much the norm for virtually *all* laptop LCDs.

The only way you get "millions of colors" is via some process, such as dithering. IIRC, AUO uses that method while LG use frame rate control.

    Anyone know differently?

System Info reports that my P7805u can display 4294967296 "color table entries" which matches up with what is called "32 bit color" - over 4.2 billion colors.
