Hi, i am new to these forums Although i have received a lot of help from these forums via Google, One month ago i purchased a Gateway P-7805h i could find anything on this laptop anywhere, But after having it for awhile i noticed the only difference between this model and the u model was the processor mine came with only 2.0GHz, anyways i have had a few heating problems with the laptop particularly the GPU but after downgrading the BIOS to 9C.17 everything is fine.
I figured i would put my first post here, How i acquired this laptop was i went into my local easyhome and asked if they had any cash and carry laptops/dektops they sold me this beast for 100$ yes one hundred dollars! well plus tax, so far i have upgraded the processor and also the RAM to 8GB and installed a SSD i love this laptop.

A h???? Never heard of that in my wanderings in all these years, and you got a reasonable bargain!
-
yea i guess there were two differences, mine came with a stock WD blue HDD 500GB but only a 2.0GHz processor (don't remember what one) as i upgraded to the norm 2.26GHz
would it be safe to put a 35W processor in her? my temps never go above 60C or would that cause too much heat? -
yeah i've got a 45W processor and she never goes above 85 on full load, unless you use IntelBurntest, she doesn't like that at all, 99 and then an automatic shutdown, either I push it too hard with that or I need to replace my TIM, it has been a year or so since I replaced it last

The h was the Canadian varient, I remember seeing them for a brief period before the P79's came about. They, as mentioned, had the slower CPU and the 500GB blue. Great deal on the laptop though.
As far as upgrades you can go as wild as any P78 person here. It just counts on how much you want to invest. I would map out a plan though as fi it takes too much ove4rall for all your upgrades a newer system may be a better choice. -
TANWare makes a great point. I think I have gotten all I can out of this system and am looking to move on/upgrade. I do have to say that this is one of the best investments I have made. Op, you got a very good deal.

Awesome price for sure. These laptops are starting to get quite dated, but at the same time, it's hard to find something remotely close for the same price.
