    Gateway P7808 now $1499 on Newegg!!!

    Sadly, I want to join you guys club but I'm strapped for cash at the moment, even with this sweet deal I found. Currently moving in 60 days and money is currently being saved for that (travel, movers, etc.)

    I'm also at odds between 3 laptops (includes this one)and will make a thread for that shortly.

    Hopefully you guys find this deal to be pretty sweet!

    Hmmm...its basically a 7805 with a quad core and 180 extra Gb, slower HD. For $350 more!

    Actually its a pretty good deal for a quad core set up. Better Hard drive and quad core CPU... If they could overclock the qx9300 i would be all over the 7808 in a heart beat.

    Unfortunately i dont think gateway allows for overclocking in the 78xx series... though this set up with a baseline qx9300 is still pretty rockin

    They restock it every few days, the price is so good that it sells out within a few hours once they do. It makes me wonder though...
    Does Newegg know something that we don't inorder to bring the price down so much?
    (ie... is Gateway planning to drop a new laptop on us?)

    Goes right alone with what someone posted in the Windows section about Windows 7 Upgrade offer starting June 26 at Best Buy. We maybe seeing a new Gateway in the next month.

    I'm guessing we will. Best Buy has dropped the price on the 7805 to $1089, it now says "Limited Availability" on their website for in store stock, and all of the Best Buy's in my area have no stock to speak of.

    The one BB I went into to, the sales tag where the 7805 used to be on display was gone, and the stock cage where they used to be was bare.

    7808 = $1499
    QX9300 = $500 (at least)
    Total = $1999

    Still a tough sell.

    But if you can leave it the way it is, I guess it's good.

    Doesn't matter much because this thread can now be closed because newegg has wiped it off their website. Newegg no longer sells the Gateway P-7808u FX or any FX model currently on their website at this time. I believe everyone's ramblings are true...
    ...I believe Gateway is about to drop a new FX laptop line on us soon, very soon...

    More websites are dropping the price of the "current" FX lines as well to clear inventory [contacted a few websites about this] but they didn't say why.

    EDIT: Well, it's official, the P7808u is gone, you can no longer find it online ANYWHERE in the US, not even ebay.
    The 7805u is gone as well with the exception of one store, Best Buy, but in limited quantities... (oh, and Ebay)
