Does either the Gateway P7811 or P7805 support the QX9300 Processor and 8GB DDR3 Memory??

Also what is the difference between each model really. There is about a $200 difference.

    no and yes

screen resolution, HDD, and 512MB vRAM

So no you cant use the QX9300 unless you get the 7808 (only quad supporting FX series so far) But they all appearently support 8GB RAM even though gateway denies it... though is an expensive upgrade for very little return right now.

And as to differences.... the 78xx series are basically cut and paste's of each other, with minor differences between the various versions such as screen res or hard drive size

nope... cant remember who tried it earlier, but even with the 7808 BIOS quad cores wont work in the 78xx series (with the exception of the 7808).

Gateway does not stink. If you want a computer with quad support buy something else. Or buy the 7808. For this price with this CPU, show me one other option that can use x9100.

I think you have a twisted view of what "stinks".

The 7811 was released before quads even exsited... so it would be odd to have it support them.

As to the later 78xx series, they were set up to be dual core computers. Gateway made the 7808 for those that wanted a quad core laptop. So i still dont get the "stinks". Though if your talking about their customer service i can pretty much agree with you :p

sorry i guess i just ment stinks because if they release one that supports quad core then a bios update for all series that can at least support any thing with 1066fsb would be great. most computer companys would release a bios update.

why cant the 7808 work in a 7811?

It also says it would support unlocked multipliers... which turned out bust as well.

E-wrecked got alot of really bleeding edge BIOS from Winstron/Gateway but by large none of them did anything even though they promised the moon with every release

yes that was a wrong thought, because i heard that even 9C.17 doesn't support quad cores, but i want test it myself,so pray for me ;)
by the way installed "bios agent plus (trial)" a few days ago, it is tested my pc and says my 9C.17 BIOS is old! of course it is right because it is for end of 2008, so it hoped me that there is a new BIOS full version at "phoenix technology" that is for buy! but unfortunately i haven't visa or master to buy that program :( i wonder about gateway support,it really su..s
i will aware u about my progress and pls u do so (i mean ALL)

by the way my pc is a 7805u, but it has WUXGA display and 16MB buffer hard disk and 1GB vRAM! i don't know whether it's because of manufacturing date (12.12.2008) or the fact that it is refurbished by revonate :( (i didn;t know that when i bought that, and unfortunately i didn't check registry of that)

Check the forums enough and you will see. I have tried 2 different Quads in mine and it will not POST with either of them. Look here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=303626&page=101 for the timeline and chronicle of tries for Quad install. It ain't happening on the 7805.
About pages 99-110? Sorry, but it won't work buddy.
