Decided to contact Gateway about exchanging my P6831-FX because it has some physical defects (warped plastic). They offered to RMA but it will take 7-10 business days (which is a long time since I'm in school). Was just wondering if anyone had experience exchanging with Gateway and if this timeframe is accurate.

Although after seeing the 6860 online now, maybe I should hold off a few more weeks to see if they run out of the 6831 stock and have to upgrade me!?

I wouldn't count on that, i think most people are going for 6860 instead of 6831 now

Yes, 7 to 10 days is about right. My old gateway took 9 days way back. You will get tracking numbers so at least you can check up on it if needed. Try to get a Saturday pickup, if you can, to avoid the week ends where not much happens other than shipping from city to city.

I do wish Gateway would offer "at home" serivce like Dell. This has been a real pleasure to use, for my 1705, for a suspect GPU change out.
