    Hi guys,

As you may or may not remember, I posted a thread a while ago about an issue with my LCD screen, which was decided to be irreparable by me. I still haven't sent the computer in to Gateway; I'm in college and I need it to write papers and the prospect of using the school computers for anything horrifies me. I also would like to have my laptop over winter break. Thanksgiving break is coming up in two weeks and I'm thinking about sending it in then; however, the break lasts only a 4 days and two weeks after that I have two large term papers due. Does anyone know how long it usually takes (on average) for Gateway to receive the laptop, fix it, and send it back?

Not sure, I've heard someone get it back in 5 days or so but they put the wrong screen in and had to send it back again... I would plan on it taking at least two weeks. I think every case is different, could be longer.

depends on where you live and your shipping methods. i live in WA and it takes about 5 days to get there, and 7-10 business days to fix it, another 5 days to send it back. i would give it about 3 weeks.

The first time I sent mine in I got it back in 5 days but with the wrong LCD installed. I sent it right back and it took 4 weeks to get back.

4-6 weeks... just to play it safe. that way you dont have to check your mail box everyday if its there or not. then get scared, if it ever came back or not.

Argh. Thank you all for the info. After reading some of the horror stories (wrong LCD resolution, hdd replacement, etc) I'm considering just leaving it alone and buying a new one myself when I get the cash. And after the HDD story in particular, there's no way in hell I'm sending it in with the hard drives still in. It's almost as if their techs are malicious... which I can believe, after talking to their "customer service" people.

I have had to send mine back three times already and it took a minimum of 3 weeks each time. Sad to say they haven't yet fixed the problem and I have to send it back for a forth time. The worse part is I only had it for 16 days before having to have it repaired. They wont even replace it with the same model seeing it was brand new. So good luck with it.

Put in a letter and say "YOU @#$!%!$ BETTER PUT IN A 1920X1200 LCD SCREEN!" just to play it safe =]. Well, can you wait till winter break to send it in? For me, I have the Thanksgiving break, one full week of school, then finals =/

My RMA took me past 4 weeks, possibly up to 6 weeks. The customer support guy was very helpful and told me the reason why it was taking so long, in my case. My laptop is back now, running fine.
