My grandson has Gateway ZX400 (all in one) computer (quite confusing) and he said he often sees a notice in lower right of screen - something about Gateway Updater.

What is this and can it be disabled? Please advise and this is a bit confusing to him. He doesn't like things running without knowing what they are.

Should have written Gateway ZX4000. An all-in-one computer, with no computer case. Everything is included with the 20' monitor.
I am referring to "Gateway Updater," that probably has something to do automatically updating the Gateway programs.

Why did you ask if it was "home security?"
