Please let me know your experience with Gateway DEPOT REPAIR for warranty work.
I have a broken express card latch for a few months now. Since I don't use the express card slot up to now, I procrastinate and did not fix it. I was contemplating on fixing it myself, but since I have no spare parts, it would be an excercise in futility.
So I contacted Gateway and they replied:
" However on service if it is found that the issue is a user induced issue, we are extremely sorry to tell that Acer cannot give warranty advantages. That means you will have to pay for the service and parts replaced, if the issue is a user induced issue. Please understand that we charge $199 for used induced damage from customers. Please not that you have to pay one-way shipping charge for making a depot repair.
If you are ready for Depot Repair please let me know. I will do the needful."
I wonder how they will determine who broke the mechanical latch of the express card slot.
My 7805 is running fine so far, so I am really paranoid about letting somebody (who might not give a damn) mess with it even if they work for Gateway.
Your thoughts?

How did the express card latch break? If you send it to them they will obviously take it apart and see what happened, and probably be able to determine the cause of failure.

Sorry for using this thread.. Wanted to ask how long is Gateway's manufacturing warranty? I bought my laptop from BestBuy, now more than a year a go. Through BB the warranty was 1 year i believe?
If i type in my serial in Gateway support system it says this about warranty: "Warranty Expires: Not Available" ?
What that means? -
Gateway has 1 year limited warranty. It seems like the warranty is over (not sure what the correct word is)
Gateway Warranty
