hi, i just bought a M 1617 from best buy. I wanted to buy it because it was on sale. I got it for $750 but with tax it was like $800.
    I need a laptop for
work, excel, internet, movies and mostly movies, and then some more movies.

Will this laptop suit my needs and is it worth the $800 i paid for it.

The reason i ask is because i just dont want a better and cheaper laptop to go on sale black friday. Do you guys think i should wait before i open it or do you think i will not find a better deal on black friday.

    Here are the specs:

You got $150 off MSRP. It could be cheaper on black Friday it could also be out of stock. If you are happy keep it, looks like it should do all you want easily. Then again if you don't need it now you could wait and see if anything better or cheaper becomes available on black Friday. Doesn't BB have some kind of price guarantee will you fall within that? Isn't it like 30 days?

they told me it was only 14 days. I thought it was 30 days which would have been much better but it is only 14. Now i can't open the stupid thing cause i have to wait.... the suspense is going to kill me.

No its not really worth it. You could have gotten a Core2Duo for ~$800.

You should not be paying more than $650 for an AMD based dual core laptop.

6.2lbs is better than most for a 15.4" laptop. Most 15.4" laptops weigh slightly more so 6.2lb.

By the way lokster, you know its only .65 lbs heavier than your 14" T1616 and its got a bigger screen and base. You must think your T1616 weighs a TON for a 14" laptop :p

nah it weighs around the same as a macbook pro :p i need smaller laptop coz i move around alot and i dont game as much, if i couldve afforded a 13.3 or 12'' laptop i wouldve gone for that. the lighter the better. :p

That a 15.4" macbook pro! Considering that you must think our T1616s weigh ton?

Actually, I had just recieved one as a gift. I had to do 2 full clean installs of Vista (32-bit) because of the many tweaks I do with it. Trust me, the computer is awesome, tho it has ABSOLUTELY NO virtual memory. ^^

this computer just went on clearance at all bestbuys who still have it in stock. i work at a location in SoCal. its what we call an "end of life" product where its past its shelf time and we essentially have to get rid of said product ASAP before we essentially start to pay to have it on the shelf.

its on clearance for $799.99 and thanks to a manager who wants to dump it i just picked it up for $438.XX after taxes.

so far so good, im trying to get rid of the bloatware as we speak. is it a good deal for $400?

The computer really is great....after 3 clean installs and disc cleanup deletes all the windows.old files....^^

Though the computer is extremely vulnerable to virus and mostly pRon files that execute themselves onto your desktop.

    It's somewhat annoying.
