Hello all, I'm trying to upgrade my Gateway NV55S09h Laptop to a different CPU, and i cant find any specifications for the CPU or the motherboard so i can find a new one that fits my laptop. I want to go from an A6-3420M at 1.5Ghz to A6-5357M at 2.9Ghz (both are AMD) and I do not know whether the new one would work with my laptop(its less that a year old). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you taken it apart yet? If not you might have to and tell us what socket module it has that will tell so we can look to see what CPU that can take. But if I remember right one of my HP had a T6500 processors as yours and I made a upgrade to Intel T8100 but if the socket holds true you can go to a T9300 if you pay more but don't get the T8300 and T9500 those small .2 Mhz won't benefit you except deplete your wallet instead. This is for intel based Gateway not sure on AMD based processors as those are not the best for upgrading IMO. -

Having inspected my motherboard revealed that it was LA -6973P. I am currently researching what CPUs will fit it. Any advice is also appreciated.

You have to tell us the socket model number that will it is. What is LA-6973P and where is that located on the board? -

You can check either A10-5750M ES thread or A8-5550M ES thread. Ask for advice in there, I think that either one is compatible, but ask, just to make sure.

LA-6973P would be the model of the motherboard

You may not be able to install A6-5357m as this is BGA(Socket FP2) and probably need to be soldered, you could try A8-xxxx in the second link.
