My GF and I purchased identical Gateway NV7802u several years ago, recently have had problems with the on/off switch.
Hers went first, the button/ switch just quit working all together. When trying to get (non-warranty) service from Gateway or from any local repair facilities here in the Houston, Tx area, we were met by wall after wall of non-help.
Well, this morning the switch on my computer quit working. Within 3 weeks of each other, the exact same situation...
So- since I do have quite a few special work applications loaded, as well as the data itself, I'd rather not have to go through setting up a new computer at this time.

Does anybody know how to either repair, bypass, or otherwise get the computers to power up?

    Would really appreciate any input!

Thanks from a new member of this forum-
