any of you have a problem with making the built in mic to work? im looking for a step-by-step instruction or something, cant get vent to work, getting error "Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device. DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use" and "VoiceCommMixerStart: Invalid voice mux selection. (-1)"

not a big deal. I uninstalled Conexant drivers and (I run 08 bios) the new high def audio device - microphone - appeared in my sound panel. Just make shure, that the volume's not at 0.

its interesting, i uninstalled both nvidia and conexant like what you said and what most ppl said on the forums, and reinstalling conexant made everything work, on top of that theres no need for it to find headset and sound will automaticly go to the headset when its plugged whereas before i needed to make it default.

now my problem is installing the P-7800_HDMI_NVIDIA_1.0.0.23

lol in the folder are 13 items, 2 of which are applications but under file description are uninstaller utilities, when you pop em, one just shows what it would do (in text) and the other would say "error for running an 32bit program on a 64bit"

mine works with no issues either, maybe you need to install that gateway webcam/mic driver/prog.

its interesting, its not just the mic that's the problem now after i reinstalled all the audio drivers, it seems that sometimes on restart all sound (speakers included) dies and sometimes everything's fine. i'll try and post what other weird things i notice

Default drivers work fine on my mic. Although the quality is pretty bad so you may want to consider external if you use it alot anyways.

I'm using a 6860FX and it also has similar issues with the built in Mic - I do tend to use Bluetooth for audio in chat scenarios but it would be nice to be able to use the built in mic as an option.

The selection of the built in mic is possible by selecting:
But it doesn't do anything at all for me when I select that...

Use the update driver, have disk method in device manager and use the standard Gateway 7811 Conexant audio drivers. You must select the bottom of the two devices which appear, not the top one, then everything will work perfectly.

the bottom of the two under device manager is NVIDIA HD Audio? is that the one i should be enabling? (then that would contradict your 1st statement of only using the standard gateway 7811 audio drivers)

No when you are installing the driver using the have disk method 2 devices will appear in the driver selection list.

On my FX I will start using vent, and then i'm told that it sounds like my machine is running out of power. Sound apparently goes lower and lower, then statics out. All drivers and everything are good, and this is a brand new mic that works on other PC's. Any ideas? Kinda frustrating.
