Hey all, just wondering.
I've never sent in a notebook for repairs n' i'm in need for some help.
I gotta send it in to replace the monitor and the CD tray, (Dumb@$$ friend of mine dropped it) and i called in, said it'd cost me over 400$. Does this seem like a reasonable price? I was really hoping for a cheaper fee around the ranges of 100-300...but when the tech told me the price i almost shiat bricks.

Would you consider would go with ebaying it As-Is, probably with buy it now at $500-$600. This means that it will cost the buyer with the cashback $400+-450.
Then use the money you got for your laptop and buy a new one. It should cost you less than 800, including cashback. This will cost you less overall and a new one to boot. This would be cheaper than paying the repair cost. -
Screen replacement isn't cheap. It would be over $800 on a Thinkpad, even for an old 15" 1024x768 screen
-
A screen by itself is probably 100-200... So... Yea.
-
Make your buttered fingered friend pay for it. He's the one that dropped it. Because that price sounds right, screen replacements are not cheap.
-
That's gonna ruin the friendship
If he's going to pay then he should do it voluntarily. -
I actually punched him in the leg, he wasn't able to walk for about 20 minutes. He cried for 10 of those minutes.

Thats a pretty fair price for the repairs you listed.
Though you could technically take that money and repair it/upgrade it at the same time. CD drives for laptops are pretty cheap, and a 1920x1200 screen is about 280-350.
So you could get some pretty good upgrades for the price...and a bit of DIY work.
But yeah, your mate that dropped the thing should pay for it. Unless you both have a long history of being clumsy, and breaking each others stuff.
Fair is fair and the friend should offer to pay (or at least pay what they can if broke) -
Your a nicer guy then i am . I would have kicked him in the head then drove his car into the lake .Your friend should be so lucky he has someone as nice as you to only punch him in the leg.
400 is about right . there going to charge you 300 ish for the screen and 100 for the drive and they will probably be replacing all the plastics as well which would cost you another good bit . -
Sounds like a good suggestion if it works out
-
is there any new 800$ 6831/6860 around?
-
LMAO
You punched him in the leg?
Why the hell in the leg? Of all places. You should have gone for the groin
That's a funny way of getting even
I don't imagine you're friends anymore right? -

About a month old, but it should cost the OP about 700 after CB, shipping included. -

pfft, one quick kidney punch. not too hard, but hard enough where it would hurt for a few days or a week.
ask to borrow his cell phone real quick, if he has one, and then throw it against a wall. say karma made it slip out of your hand and fly into a wall.
