Well i posted a week or so ago about my bran new gateway nv53a randomly getting bsod and shutting down. At first reseating the memory solved the issue but it has again began to happen, Ive done a fresh install of 7 and still the same issue. I'm sure its hardware cuz Ive had it crash while running a live CD of backtrack.what i wanna know from you is guys how good is the support as far as getting this thing replaced. I'm used to the service from lenovo where they would overnight me a box to ship the thing back and that was that. Am i in for a bunch of headaches? or is gateway service anygood?

Here is a link to the bad. My3cents.com - Gateway Complaints and Reviews

I know some here have had good experiences with Gateway support but it seems that the majority have problems. They have farmed out the support to a third party.

This is not Gateway support! Maybe you should post there?

I am a former Gateway support tech, Gateway policy was to never replace a PC unless the same issue (and exactly the same issue only) happened 3 times. Yes you are in for a bunch of headaches, Gateway at the time I left had a $10 revenue per call policy and that was going up. Gateway wanted salesman not support techs. Customer also pays for shipping unless it is a known issue with Gateway as well.

Thanks for posting your comments Darkness62. I almost believe that it is time to rethink the ability to get a computer fixed. Getting to the point where you will just have to dump it and get a new one if you have a computer problem that can't be fixed by the user.

I use my Gateway P7805u for business and if there is a problem that I can't fix with the help of the super computer guys here on this forum then I dump it and make a quick trip to Best Buy or Costco and get another computer. I have all my important data backed up on an external drive. My business could not exist with my computer down for the days it takes to send it in to Gateway for a fix that may never be really fixed anyway.
