Dell has much better customer support.

I email Gateway support with a part number I want to order, they tell me to order it through live chat. I get on with live chat, turns out they won't sell me the part becasue it doesn't come with my laptop and they tell me to buy a more expensive laptop that has the part.

Hello just bought this thing last week and the part will work in here if you just sell it to me.

Hows it go, shoulda bought a Dell

Are you just venting? There's no mention in your post of your particular model, the actual part you tried to order, or why you need the part. Also, no explanation for why Gateway thought the part doesn't belong in your machine, or why you believe otherwise.

Are you looking for a response? If so, what exactly?

I'v heard horrible things about Dell support, and Gateway support was great for me. I had a problem, went to live chat, and had a box on my doorstep less than 12 hours later, and got the machine back in like 3-4 days. They did great. Keep your post on topic and give more information than just "Gateway sux". Not everyone is going to have the same experience. Some people may like Dell support, others may find it attrocious.
