im gettin a p6860 soon as a graduation gift from my pops

Dont, you are better off getting the M-152XL from gateway's website for the same price of 899. if you talk with the sales rep they will most likely give you the extra 100 bucks off they gave me.

Uhh, I can't order online.. and that's final.. I don't really care anymore, I've been researching forever, so when I went to best buy.. this was the best notebook they had, so I got it, when I'm gonna go buy it.. I'll be sure to see if any new laptops are in stock..
EDIT: I also have another question, will it probably be able to run anything..? (I plan on upgrading RAM and the processor.. -
well if you cant order online then thats that isnt it.
"will it probably be able to run anything..?" ...huh? -
I mean as in games such as Crysis, COD4, and many other games on MID-HIGH settings..
-
i dont know about medium to high on things like crysis... if you want that get the 6860.
low-medium? shouldnt be a problem. -
The P-6860 FX can run crysis on High. You will want to reduce the resolution to something like 1280x800 though if you want to keep your frame rate at a playable level, still a great looking game regardless. In terms of performance in other games you should be able to run almost everything at high quality with the 8800 gts, things like RTS and other games which are more processor intensive will cause some problems though. Great choice though, i've had mine for about a month now and am loving it.

Thanks for the great comments guys!

as for the video card.... sorry but there is no ati radeon 2600 mobile any thing beating a 8800m gts card. and i looked. -
With the 6850 you aren't looking at much playability as the future goes. It should play most of today games at decent settings. Crysis is hard on expensive desktops so don't expect to run that at high. It should be fine for a couple months to a year at the most for running later games at better resolutions, but once you get past a year you probably will have to run games at lower resolutions with most settings turned down.
I probably would have waited until the 6860 went on sale to pick it up if you were looking for something purely gaming related. But the 6860 is also 17" and not as portable as the 6850, so that's a factor also.
And by the way, the 6850 isn't "the best laptop you can find at Best Buy" by far. Maybe for the price/performance factor while it's on sale this week it is. It's too bad you can't buy online though, you can get dozens of different laptops with similar if not better specs on different computer websites for the same prices, and some of them wont come loaded with bloatware like they are when you buy them from retail.
First thing first you'll have to do is a clean install of Vista when you boot it up, that should makes things faster right away. -
Yes, online is the way to go! I was shocked that they put such a lame gpu in that 6850. Hopefully with the summer will come an overhaul for this line of computer. 2600 mobile will be good for counter strike, WOW, etc. My buddy has a Geforce 8600GT for his desktop and his computer can barely run Crysius at medium at 1440x900. Good luck on that laptop, luckily Best Buy has a return policy IF you don't break that 14-day return seal. Then they take 10-15% for re-stocking fee. SERIOUSLY! Return it and get the 6860. If mobility you want, con somebody into buying an Asus M50SV from www.xoticpc.com
Good luck on your laptop.
