Getting spares for your 7510GX (and probably others from BB)

For those of us who bought our laptops at Best Buy, it does not seem possible to buy generic power adapters, nor does BB stock spares. The Gateway accessories site does not appear to offer the parts for our laptops at this time (though I'm noticing that more and more of their support site is recognizing my machine by model/serial number).

I wanted a second power adapter so I could leave my main at home and have another to bring with me.

So to save folks time on the phone, here is how I got mine in no time for a very good price.

Just call the "corporate" number (this is what the support guy told me it was), 801-401-1199. They answered immediately both times I called, were very polite and helpful, knew just what to do and I had my order placed right away. For the 7510GX the extra power adapter was just $75 (cheaper than most generics actually. The only weird thing was that there were really two separate orders - one for the cord and one for the transformer). I had it in just 3 days. I think you can also get batteries from that number as well. The only thing is that this number is not 24 hours, though if I recall it had fairly wide hours of coverage.

So until the standard channels and online sales start supporting our machines, this is a simple way to get what we need.

BTW, the people at the normal support number were always very helpful and answered quickly, but did not know the part numbers needed for my laptop. Oh, and for what it is worth, they were in America :)
