So I ordered the P 172S-FX and received it on June 29 and I liked it a lot. I didnt realize it was a slot load drive so I thought it was jam and was going to have to return it. But then I realized it was slot load. The next day Monday, I wanted to see what the specs on my laptop so I went to their website and realized that IT WASNT THERE ANYMORE!!! IT WAS REPLACED BY THE 173 Models!!! I was reading it and saw that it was $100 more and that it went like this 2.0GHz to 2.2, 3GB to 4GB RAM, Windows Vista Home Pre 32 bit to Windows Vista Ultimate Pre 64 bit, 160 GB HD to 200 GB, Built in bluetooth, and a lightscribe drive. All that for $100 more, I was pissed off, because I didnt read anything about them coming out with a new model. So i checked the warranty and found out it was a 15% Restocking Fee WTF!!!

So I went to technical chat and talked to a rep and asked them about returning it and he said he couldnt do anything about it. I got pissed off again so I went to talk to another rep. I told him about returning it and asked about the warranty he asked me to give me a call, so I let him call me. He started talking about how they ran out of my P172S FX and that he would give me the newer one for a straight trade, and he asked me what was wrong with my laptop, i just said about how the flash drive kept trying to read something. He was chilled with it. So in the end Im getting A P173XFX for the price of the P 172SFX =).

Good for you. I had the option of going to the 173 XL FX instead of the 172X FX but chose to go with the 172 because I didn't see too much difference between them. There's a lot between the S versions though.

Remember that the optical drive is labelflash, not lightscribe. Not as good in my opinion but YMMV.
