I have pretty much come to the conclusion that I will likely get either a Toshiba Satellite or a Acer Aspire, since these two have sound and image quality that I like a lot. I want something that in addition to doing all the usual office applications, checking eMail via WiFI, etc., will also do a good job of playing DVD movies. So far, I have not really seen anything other than the FX model, but that was priced a bit more than what I wanted to spend.

    Any suggestions??

Well to be honest, ANY laptop purchased within the past 5 years will do a good job playing DVD's. And since you've pretty much decided on a Tosh or an Acer, I'd say go with either of those(Though I'd recommend the Tosh over the Acer). Although, I must say the Gateways do tend to look better than the Acers. The Toshibas, especially the new all black/shiny ones, look awesome. If youre looking for someone to provide compelling evidence that Gateway is better, I doubt you'll find much. All manufacturers are pretty much the same now. Its all a matter of preference. That being said, if you're looking for a 17" gaming laptop, I CAN say you wont find a better deal than the P-6831 or 6860FX's.

Thanks for the input. All good things to keep in mind. Next time at BB I'll see if I can get a good look at either of those two.
