Hi, just got this laptop a few days ago from Best Buy for $400 and was wondering if it looks like I did okay? Anybody else here own this laptop, have any experiences with it? For the money just did a leap of faith, based on 17" screen size and specs..First laptop so hope i'm not about to drown here.

I know I see people mention swapping the processor out of the 6831,could this be done on this one as well?

My main goal is that this machine must be able to handle 720p,1080p mkv x264 files, possible? I won't be doing any gaming at all!! Any opinions appreciated.

They were being clearanced out for $489, and $100 off for comcast signup, which salesmen just told me to call a day or so later and cancel it if i didn't want it..Gotta love it.

Yeah it came fully loaded..It's got Windows vista home premium on it.2gb memory, core 2 duo t5250...Will it do HD files?

It's got a gma x3100...I guess that's an intel onboards video. For gaming it seems you would want more, but for HD files I've read it can do it easily with a core duo 5250..Just was hoping to verify this..I didn't really wan to open it if it wwas going to work for what I wanted..Just in case I had to flip it or something..

    any opinions

That is a good deal, the regular P-6825 retails for $899.99, I believe. Over 50% off the retail price is great no matter how bad a laptop is, in my opinion.

Since this laptop is the base for the P-6831FX, I think a CPU swap is just as easy.
