If you're looking for just a sleeve, I picked this one up from Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OY71MM/

Nice and small, has a handle for carrying, fits the 17" FX laptops perfectly, and has a matching color scheme.

I have had quite a few cheap bags and they always fall apart after 6 months or less. This time I decided to go with some of the best quality and am very glad I did. I purchased the cargo w/sleeve from Waterfield ( www.sfbags.com). Easily one of the strongest, and most versatile setup I have ever seen, not to mention very attractive.

The thing I love the most is the combo comes with their large cargo, and a sleeve. The sleeve is so strong you can get it with d rings and a strap and carry just the sleeve around if you want to travel light. There is also a small bag option that attaches to the sleeve so you can carry your power brick and a mouse if you choose.

Their CS is also top notch, I cannot say enough good things about this company. Top notch all the way!

Yea I figured that too but it was the least expensive option with the most protection and the most practicality

APC makes two very sturdy ones without all the "steal me" flash. One expands to hold more stuff and one is slimmer. I had one for my 15 incher, same model but smaller, so I recommend it highly. Dirt cheap on APC's website at the moment too.

Well, I just got my two APC cases, and like them both. Review below.

One of them is slimmer and has only a skinny zippered pocket in the back that you could perhaps put a few papers into. The other is thicker because while it has the same pocket in the back,it also has a whole 'nother zippered compartment rather than just a pocket with a zipper running across it horizontally. This one unzips a compartment a couple of inches wide that has a sewn-in expanding file in it. You know, the kind you might see as a brown folder with alphabetical tabs that people use for sorting paper in an office, or as something that people use at home to sort their checks by month. It holds a fair amount of stuff, and I put the styrofoam slab that my notebook sleeve came stuffed with in there, to cushion my lappy when laying it flat on a table.

Cushioning itself is modest, as with most laptop bags, but better than most, including those from some of the well-recognized names that make camera bags and such. Overall, the impression is of great sturdiness.

Included in both bags is a decent shoulder stap for affixing to a couple of D-rings on the outside of the bag. The strap clamps that affix to the D-rings could be a little tougher; they're plasticky when I would have preferred metal. I will solve this (perhaps imaginary) problem by getting some of those cable ties, just to put my mind to rest. The regular handles are okay. Rubber-coated and neither round and full enough to be perfectly comfortable nor narrow and stingy enough to to dig into the fingers and make holding the bag unpleasant. What I would really like is one of those pieces of vinyl/leather that some cases have which circles around the two handles and then snaps together onto itself to make a little sleeve encompassing both handles.

There compartment that hold the laptop is very, very tight. Just barely fits the machine. It has padding that encircles the laptop for some measure of whack protection, and to secure it from moving. No threat there. You could say this fits the 7811 perfectly, but maybe too perfectly. It takes longer to get the thing in and out because the fit is so tight. So much so that I take my super-tiny Kensington USB Bluetooth plug out in order to help slide it in.

The narrowness made me not use my notebook sleeve because the extra material actually seemed to make it harder to get the notebook in. I have since realized that the sleeve reduces friction on the slick surfaces of the laptop so much that it slides in easier with the notebook sleeve anyway. Combine the sleeve with the padding in the compartment and you have pretty decent protection. Add to that that the back of the case(most likely to hit your legs) is one compartment away from the laptop which rests safely in the middle, and protection is better still. Add the basically weightless styrofoam -- or maybe some of your papers or whatnot -- to the expanding file slots in the back compartment, and there's better protection still. All in all, it makes a pretty paranoid guy for whom this kind of purchase is not the kind of thing he can afford to replace too frequently into a comfy camper.

The front of the bags are the same, with a compartment that unzips on three sides and has way too many pockets of varying sizes than I know what to do with or that can perhaps even be used while still enabling the back to shut. There is a little bag affixed to the bottom of that compartment that holds the battery perfectly. I tuck my Targus collapsible quadpod notebook stand thingy neatly into one vertical pocket, my bluetooth mouse into another, my bluetooth USB plug into another, and my Readyboost USB SDHC/USB plug combo into another. My AC cord I just roll up and stick in there as it is, as it is too big for any pockets there. After all that, this compartment is pretty full, but you could still squeeze in lots of small things like USB pens or tasty candy if you like. If you have more bulky stuff, the compartment at the back is the place. However, I like the idea of having only flat stuff there so nothing prods like a spike into my notebook's base when I put the bag flat on a table or accidentally kick it against my leg.

My compact discs go into the another pocket on the front.

Basically, these bags are the same except for the compartment that holds the expanding filing "shelves" on the big one. The smaller one is 20 bucks at the APC site and the bigger one is 24 bucks, on sale for like half or a third of the price. I ordered and got both together in the same box about 3 days later and shipping was reasonable. Basically I feel like I got two very good bags for the price of one -- except in walking through stores and trying bags out, I couldn't find a "one" that I liked better even at full price.

Anyway, both these bags are so cheap and so good that I recommend considering them.

    @fugli

Dude... if you are like me and fly on a weekly basis then I don't have to tell you how retarded some of the TSA agents can be (there are plenty of nice ones as well to be fair.) Even if you bust out a bag that is specifically designed to just pass right through the x-ray those types of people will still make you remove it from the case.

All they know is that their job description tells them that they have the power to make you remove your laptop from its bag. They don't care about your fancy bag, and forget arguing with them... that defeats the whole reason for having a product like this.

Granted this may eventually catch on, and become an acceptable means of transporting your laptop through airport security, but until you start seeing these things on a regular basis I wouldn't take any chances.

Now for my 7811 I decided to go with a rolling bag, from Wenger that I was actually able to test fit right at Best Buy. It is rated for 15.4" laptops, but the 7811 fits perfectly, and there was even enough room that I put an additional layer of padding beneath it to keep it extra safe while I roam about the country.

The only negative I have to say is that it will not fit under an aisle seat (at least on Southwest) and the handle is not the most rugged I've seen. However since I always sit in the aisle seat I just get one where the overhead divider is just above my head and I tuck it right in there. That way I have all my legroom, and I can just stand up and access any of the compartments with ease. The handle will be fine, I just go easy on it and I'm sure it will be fine.

I looked around for quite a while trying to find a bag to hold this monster that would reasonably protect it and still have some style to it. On a whim I went to Circuit City and was stunned to find that they had a bag by Kenneth Cole that claimed to hold "most 17" laptops".

You can see it by going to their website and searching "Kenneth Cole Reaction".

It was the first one I'd seen that didn't look like the business is usual black on black nylon or faux leather. So I picked it up. The laptop cargo area is sort of an open top sleeve with velcro fastening elastic sort of 'seat belt'. With the 7811's extended battery the elastic actually has to stretch a little bit, but not so much that you feel it's going to break anything. You need to be a little careful when zipping it closed as the corners of the machine kind of need to be tucked into the case, unless you really don't care about the zipper pulling across the laptop's shell.

If you're looking for something other than basic black (mind you, only the "outside" is non-black) and don't want to blend in with the other Targus bags when you drag it out, this is worth a look.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a bag for me. I will be carrying the 7811, Cryo LX cooler, power brick, mouse, mousepad, and headphones. My guess is im probably going to be looking for a backpack type of bag. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Flightable(dot)com is my transporter when I go someplace (not often). The table is cool to have and the 7811 fits perfectly if you put the styrofoam ends (from the original packing) on it. You have to pad it a bit as it's too thin, but who doesn't have more stuff to put in lol.
I can even put my notebook cooler and (modified) mesh laptop stand in the document pockets, they zip right up.

I don't know if it's mentioned before but this bag rocks!
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=455780#
It has an ultra-soft (sleeve I assume) part for the laptop which is perfect 100% for the 7811 since it works as a dust-fingerprints cleaner! It's quite spacious too!
Perhaps the next time I'll get the backpack version of this because sometimes when I max out it's capacity with hard drives etc it feels very heavy!
