I just bought the 7803H FX its the same as the 7811 just a weaker CPU & a 500gb 5400RPM Drive.

I was thinking to sell the HD that came with the system and buy 2x500GB @ 7200RPM. Also I wasn't sure if anyone else has put in a 7200 drive in their laptops to make sure the APM doesn't mess with the drive.

What Im thinking right now is its probably not worth my time to try and sell my 500gb instead. Load me OS & Games on the 7200rpm drive and just load my music / images on my 5400RPM Drive.

Also I was wondering if the p7350 is overclock-able, and if I would be able to update my bios. I figure I can do anything all the other 78Xx FX series can do as they are all the same with cpu/hd changes.

Thanks alot guys!! I love my FX!!!

You're hard drive plan would work, but you arent going to notice any huge gain in swapping from a 5400 to a 7200 RPM drive unless you plan to RAID 2x500, 7200RPM's together. But its all relative.

As to your CPU, no its not Overclockable unless the new hard ware mod that Moral Hazard has come up with work. But then you have to be brave enough to start soldering on your pll. BUt if it works then it would make our systems able to OC

Other than that mostly just upgrades increase preformance (like CPU)

In any case welcome to the gateway boards and i hope everything turns out well for you.

Yeah I love this place, you guys made me buy my 7803 FX since I saw it can support XP and that was the big selling for me between this and an MSI setup.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't matter to much of a gain, also so you can RAID0/1 on this system do I have to flash my BIOS? IT's 9C.17.00 is it just like a desktop boot into your RAID chip and go from there?

Once again thanks so much, and the APM will it support the 7200RPM.

I was thinking just to wait and maybe in 3 or 4 months ill consider once its supported getting like a Q9300 or whatever everyone else is using with their FX.

Yeah you can easily RAID 1/0. Once you set the second drive in te bay it will give you the option in your BIOS (yeah .17 supports RAID)

Yeah the laptops will support any 7200rpm SATA drive, it will run a little hot due to the lack of active cooling, but nothing that is dangerous (though your palms might warm up on the unit when typing)

Unfortunatly unless you got the 7808 or the 7902 there isnt going to be quad support for these machines. I believe they actually use a different motherboard in the quad based units than everyone elses. But you should easily be able to upgrade to a p9700/t9600/t9800/t9900/x9100 and still get amazing preformance.

Yeah I figured as much FML lol, but its good to know I can atlest upgrade my CPU in the future, I'm guessing its just like swapping out a CPU in a desktop correct, with maybe just a few extra steps like taking the casing out.
