Hello Slateman, a HDMI port allows you to connect your laptop to a Hi-Def monitor (such as a HDtv) to output both video and audio in very high quality. It is now a standard connection for HDTV's since it offers very good quality and needs only 1 cable for outputting both video and audio signal.

No. It's an output, not an input.

How do I get this to work? I followed the instructions in the Gateway guide but to no avail.

I turned off my notebook and tv. Plugged in HDMI on both. Turned on my notebook, waited for it to finish, then turned on the TV. Nothing happened.

The guide says it'll detect the tv. It didn't. When I go into the windows mobility center and click connect it doesn't find anything.

    Can anyone help?

    - Paulie

Go to your Nvidia Control Panel, and setup multiple displays.
